☺Great location in Barga Vecchia with walking distance to Duomo, Parco Kennedy, Alpino, Parco Castello, & more. Beautiful property with a nice garden out front. ☹We were there during the heat wave so was a bit hot in the apartment on the day we arrived when it was 40C. Our stay at Barga was wonderful. We had an amazing time meeting the local people, dining on local food, and experiencing local wines. We would definitely return to Barga at any moment. The Villa was beautifully located in a central area within walking distance to restaurants and wine bars. Our host, Gioia was very attentive and actually let us check in early and check out late. We had a lovely stay and the host Lucia was amazing. The place is exactly as described, immaculate , modern and tasteful with all the amenities you could possibly need. Lucia kept in contact on the day to ensure we knew where to how to get in the property. The villa is at the end of a small street in a lovely quiet area with only a few other properties nearby. The property is the first floor apartment and is very spacious with open plan kitchen/diner, bathroom and two good size double bedrooms. The apartment has everything you need from fresh linen, loads of towels, pans, pots, plates etc. The garden is brilliant and the pool lovely to cool off. Barga town is amazing , a short walk away, lots of patisseries,coffee bars,restaurants , art galleries. The host Lucia booked us at a restaurant one of the nights overlooking Barga town. A charming, well appointed home in the heart of Barga. Steps away from restaurants, food markets and shops. Very walkable. Gorgeous outdoor spaces for drinks and dining. An above ground pool for cooling off on hot summer days. Gioia, the property manager, is wonderful. She is from the area and has great recommendations for restaurants and things to do. Barga is also central to other nearby towns for hiking and touring. Comes with one convenient parking spot off the main road inside the gate (depending on size of car). Really enjoyed our stay. It’s a great, cozy house in the country with beautiful views and it was just what we were dreaming of. You can’t see it from the google street view, it’s down a narrow lane from the street. Best to rent a small car but if not you can park outside the gate up by the street. Barga is charming- Lucca and Pisa are really pleasant to drive to (Lucca was only forty minutes so we went several times). The terrace is really private, especially as there was no one in the house next door. Sunny place for coffee in the mornings. Woke up to the sounds of the birds and the lovey, rural valley vista. Plenty of room for a family of five. Wi fi and communication were great. Super responsive to our needs. The hot tub was not working but they’re installing one, and the hot water for showers is slightly limited but this is just FYI, not really complaints. This was just what we needed, the perfect villa for a large family gathering of 10 people from all around the world!It met with our every need: a well equipped and cozy kitchen, good bedrooms with a bathroom each, a beautiful outdoor dining-area with a real pizza-oven (which we used successfully!), a lovely garden - and last but not least: a pool! This is a wonderful house with incredible views, lots of space, friendly team. It is a 5 minute walk to the old town of Barga. The restaurants in Barga are incredible and there are lots of opportunities for historical, cultural (esp with proximity to Lucca, which is a center of amazing music history), outdoors (near the Apennine alps, Monte Forato if you're into hiking, and via Matildica del volto santo which is right in town). Or you can BBQ at the house and enjoy the views :)two notes for clarity:- the hot tub needs to be arranged with the manager IN ADVANCE - we thought we could request when we got there but this was not possible- the beds might be an Italian king size, but they are not a US/UK King size. We had a very comfortable stay in Villa Australis. The location is probably one of the best in the surrounding area with fantastic views of the valley, whilst also easily walkable to the old and new Barga. The house is spacious and well equipped. The friendly host greeted us on arrival and was easily reachable via text.
