We were attending a wedding in Barga and needed to find accommodation which would comfortably fit 6 adults, 2 kids and a toddler. Villa Sofia did more than offer us just comfort, it offered breathtaking views, rustic charm and a wonderful team who looked after us. The villa itself is absolutely charming and the fact that you could park 3 cars in the driveway was a huge plus for our elderly uncle when we were ferrying the family to and from various wedding events. Truly, it lives up to it’s claim to be “Barga’s finest”.
The kitchen was well equipped and modern, and the kids had plenty of space to run around in the garden with the fenced off pool. All of the bedrooms had comfy beds and tasteful linen and we slept very well. I particularly loved the lavender room which had a small balcony and gorgeous views of the mountains. It was also lovely doing yoga in the reading room with the windows open and looking out at the mountains at sunrise.
When we hosted a lunch for the newly weds who had travelled extensively throughout Italy, they couldn’t believe how beautiful, clean and well kitted out Villa Sofia was compared to other places that they had stayed in. Big thanks to Fabio and Gioia for looking after us and being so gracious, responsive to questions we had about villa, and how things worked. Ronnie was also very kind and helpful in the lead up to the trip and accommodating the needs of our 2 year old nephew.
In terms of the location, Barga is a little gem. It literally had the best gelato and bakery in Tuscany and the best part was that you can walk to these amazing and affordable establishments from Villa Sofia. The town is also very charming and a great way to enjoy Tuscany without the crowds. If we ever have a reason to come back to Barga, we would definitely book Villa Sofia again.
